We had a lovely evening of prayer (Tuesday, May 29). About 75 people were present at a local parish, including a good number of women religious. Many of their supporters came out, as well, including some priests. We prayed the prayer I had written for the nunjustice web site, but I made some adjustments for our group, mostly in terms of music. The local storytelling group, “Women of the Well,” led the service, and our song leaders led the music with reverence and vitality. I also included a reading from Romans (8:22-27) before our intercessions. People generously responded to the invitations to name their own personal litany of remembrance and thanksgiving… and to pray for people and issues. In all, it was a gentle, prayerful gathering, in support of our women religious. – Gloria
